This does not mean that this property will not be affected by climate change and adverse weather damage. It means that it has the probability of being a safer location compared to others.
We do not know when the worst-case scenarios of climate change will happen. But every year we know more and we’re seeing previous predictions already come to pass. The change is accelerating and may happen faster than current trajectories expect.
We do strongly recommend that every home that is constructed in an area with a reasonable risk of any natural disaster, be designed to withstand those elements. We recommend fully off-grid power and water systems, storm shutters, flood/fire-proof materials and backup plans for anyone living in an area with relevant risks. That said, it is highly unlikely that many entire communities will adequately build and prepare for climate change. In a nutshell – your concrete dome house may be just fine but the roads, healthcare/emergency access, local services and economy could still be obliterated in a crisis. It’s important to think of climate adaptation strategies including your neighbors and your community at-large.
